Foundation Concealer Primer Blusher Highlighter
Once you know skin color and undertone, your search for the right foundation shade narrows down considerably. You will, most likely, by now have a handful of foundations shades to choose from. In such a scenario it’s best to test the shades on your skin and find the perfect match.Start by shortlisting three shades that seem to be a good match. Then, dab some of each shade as short lines on your jaw line (do keep some space in between each). Don’t just consider your face for making the final decision but also your neck. The foundation you choose should blend seamlessly with both your face and your neck. Choose your concealer based on what works for your skin type and concerns. If you have dry skin, don't go for a liquid concealer with a matte finish because the finish will emphasize dryness. If you have oily skin with enlarged pores, don't go for a creamy or stick concealer as these textures tend to clog and magnify the appearance of pores, plus they tend to add an oily shine. We know this sounds basic but it is surprising how often the wrong concealer gets used. For creating a more even finish over minor skin discolorations, a light to medium coverage concealer will do the trick. For the undereye area, be sure to select a shade of concealer that's no more than one or two shades lighter than your natural skin tone to avoid an obvious white circle around the eye area. For your face, select a concealer that matches the color of your foundation exactly. Avoid concealer shades that are noticeably pink, rose, peach, white, yellow, or copper as they will show through your foundation, creating an unnatural appearance. You can ask for a primer that has an illuminating formula with a dewy finish. Try to avoid one which has a mattifying effect as they'll make you look dull. You can also opt for the pore minimizing primer formula as it gives an amazing base for foundation and concealer. For a natural look, choose a blush with the same undertone as your skin. If you want a bold looking blush, pick one with the opposite undertone as your skin. Therefore, If you have a warm skin tone (a yellow undertone), choose warm blush shade for a natural look and a cool blush shade for a pop of color. If you have pale to light skin, you should opt for highlighters with a pearlescent, icy silver or champagne sheen. The light pigment adds the right amount of radiance to your complexion. You also want to avoid going with shades that are too warm or contain dark red undertones, and look for shades that have a bit more of a light pinky-peach finish. For fair skin tones, we absolutely love YSL Beauty Touche Éclat All-Over Brightening Pen for a lightweight, glossy touch that you can apply over your favorite foundation or CC cream. If you prefer a liquid finish, try the Maybelline New York Masterchrome Jelly in Metallic Rose.
